Sabatii a Saturno eiecti fil. primus Aboriginum REx, a quo Sabini dicti. Eum cum Sabazio confundit Hornius Hist. Philos. l. 2. c. 9. Sed distinctum ab hoc Numen fuisse idem paulo post ipsemet suggerit, cum Sabazium, utpote peregrinum, a Romanis civitate pulsum fuisse memorat, auctoritate Valerii Max. l. 1. c. 3. ex. 2. qui ait, Iidem, qui Sabazii Iovis cultu mores Romanos inficere conati sunt. etc. Sabino autem, quorum Sabus primus Rex, cum Romanis in eandem gentem coaluisse, extra dubitationis aleam est. Licet enim B. Augustin. de C. D. l. 18. c. 9. Sangum gentis Sabinae primum dicat Regem; Vossius tamen Sangum a Sabo, conditorem auctoremque gentis a primo eius Rege, distinguendum esse censet, testimonio nixus Silii, utrumque aperte discernentis.
